Welcome to Bailey Intermediate! My name is Angela Compton, and I am starting my 22nd year at North Lamar. I am excited that your child will be attending our school!
This school year promises to be filled with opportunities for all our students to SHINE BRIGHT and RISE UP!
We have so much planned for the students that we know will make this year an enjoyable experience for everyone. Our staff of highly qualified professional educators and support personnel are committed to providing our students with meaningful and rigorous activities in the classroom. We extend an invitation to all families to join us for school activities and take an active role in the educational process of your child.
Shelly Bivens is starting her 21st year at North Lamar ISD and her second year as an
administrator. She is a North Lamar graduate, attending NLISD Kindergarten through
12th Grade. She graduated from Texas A&M University - Commerce in 2001 with a
degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a specialization in reading and began teaching
in the fall of that year. Her classroom experience includes seven years as a 3rd grade
self-contained teacher, one year as a reading interventionist, four years as a 4th grade
ELAR teacher, three years working with gifted and talented students, and four years
as an Instructional Coach. In 2017, she graduated from Texas A&M University -
Commerce with a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction and she completed
her principal’s certification. In her current role as assistant principal, she is committed
to working alongside Mrs. Compton as they continue to provide leadership and
collaborative relationships in the school and community. She joins in the partnership
of all stakeholders involved in working together to ensure that students experience
success each day!
In her life outside of school, Shelly’s priority is her family. She and her husband,
Judd, live in Caviness, Texas near family members. They enjoy spending time at
home and their hobby of owning a small herd of cattle. Shelly and Judd have a
daughter, son-in-law, two handsome grandsons, and one beautiful granddaughter that
live in Haleiwa, Hawaii. She takes every opportunity available to fly west. She loves
to read books and has quite the collection in her home.
Mrs. Bivens looks forward to an outstanding year of watching your children grow.
